Through our long history, we have developed several technologies in-house that meet the needs of today’s busy consumers who want foods that are safe, natural, nutritious and convenient. Our rice is created under strict guidelines to ensure that you get always the finest quality.
The basic objective of a rice milling system is to remove the husk and the bran layers to produce an edible, white rice kernel that is sufficiently milled/polished so its free of impurities. At Devgan Rice & General Mills®, the selection of high grade rough rice will undergo sequence of processing steps.
Quality starts at the beginning
Winnowers: Winnowers are relatively simple machines that consists mainly of a hopper to receive the grain, a fan and a set of sieves.
Pre-cleaners: These motor-driven devices are generally used to pre-clean grains that have been harvested when moist, before it goes to the artificial dryer.
Cleaner-separators : The cleaner-separators are motor-driven and consist of a reception hopper, a fan and a set of vibrating sieves that clean grain by repeated suction of the lightest impurities, followed by sifting of the grain.
Hulling is the process of removing husk from paddy. This is achieved by the gentle action of rubber rolls applied to the paddy, after which the husk aspirator separates the husk from the rice by means of air aspiration. The brown rice then passes into the paddy separator which separates any unhulled kernels from the brown rice and recycles them into the huller.
Whitening & Polishing
High yield processing
During whitening and polishing, bran layers are removed from the brown rice. This not only enhances the appearance of the rice but also increases its shelf life, since the lipids contained in the embryo and the bran layers are highly susceptible to enzymatic and non-enzymatic oxidation. The bran removal is best achieved in several steps to ensure evenly milled rice with minimum broken grains and optimum uniformity. The whitened rice is then polished to give it a silky finish.
High yield processing
Grading is the process of removing the broken grains from the head rice and sorting them into well defined fractions of different lengths. The grading process at our mill is achieved with a Plansifter, Classifier Separator and Indent Cylinder.
Optical sorting of rice
Discolored grains and chalky kernels are removed to yield Grade-A products. Color sorters have been setup to service the specific needs of long, medium or short grain rice requirements. Whether the kernels are processed as brown rice, white rice or par-boiled rice, our installed sorters add maximum value to the final product. All types of contaminants (stones, glass and white plastics) and defective grains (peck, red rice, yellow grains, immature, bran, discolors and paddy) are removed by the visible and infrared technologies of the SORTEX Z+ Machine..
Packing & Storage
Customized to market needs
The finest quality rice is finally packed and sent out according to the market requirement and trade standards. The rice is bagged-off in our bagging station, stitched at the sewing belt, stored according to its grade and is then ready for dispatch.
We at Devgan Rice & General Mills® will work with you to produce the type of rice product that will sell well for both domestic and export use and guarantee that only the finest rice reaches you.
